SPRING CLEANING CHECKLIST FOR YOUR LAWN

SPRING CLEANING CHECKLIST FOR YOUR LAWN

It’s time to give your lawn and backyard a little TLC! The inside of your house needs a good spring cleaning…so why not the outside, too?

Here’s a checklist of all the tasks you should aim to accomplish every Spring to give your yard a much-needed facelift.

  • Clean Up Debris

The most unpleasant yet important part: cleaning up the winter mess. Rake up dead leaves and collect twigs for composting. Dispose of other debris in the garbage or recycling.

  • Mow the Lawn

If the weather isn’t quite favorable for mowing yet, at least get the lawnmower cleaned up and ready for action.

  • Treat Bare Patches

Clean up dead grass, reseed, and fertilize in areas that need it.

  • Prune Trees and Shrubs

You even want to prune all your plants before you do all that raking in the beginning!

  • Aerate and Re-Edge Your Gardens

Your lawn may need to be re-edged after a winter of neglect. This especially goes for any plantings or garden beds. Soil needs to be freshened up to allow plant roots to absorb water and nutrients.

  • Beat the Weeds

Get a head-start on those weeds before they get the chance to take over!

  • Put Down Fresh Mulch

Mulch insulates soil perfectly and helps prevent weed growth. Plus, it gives your yard a fresh and sharp look, highlighting its beauty right in time for the warmer weather.

  • Plant Fresh Blooms

Need a pop of color? Some fresh annual plantings in your yard are the icing on the cake.
